VVA provided project and cost management services for Birch House, a six-story, 337-unit multifamily building situated on a 2.5-acre site in Jersey City.

The project involved transforming a former warehouse and parking lot for a beauty product distributor on a historic fill site into a modern residential development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and permit coordination, ensuring compliance with city regulations
  • Environmental remediation, including:
    • Soil removal and mitigation of historic fill site conditions
    • Removal of underground tanks and drums
    • Air, vibration, and control point monitoring
  • Property line resolution, working with the owner and neighbors to address discrepancies
  • Support of excavation (SOE) coordination, ensuring structural integrity throughout construction
  • Utility coordination, including:
    • Electrical and gas services with PSE&G
    • Water and sewer connections with Jersey City Municipal Utility Authority
    • Technology services with Verizon and Comcast
