School Redesign and Development
Codman Academy, a Charter Public School in Dorchester, Massachusetts, enlisted the Project Management services of VVA for the redesign and development of their school. The 30,000 SF project required a substantial demolition of existing commercial space where five storefronts were transformed into a new 200-seat school.
The new space is organized around a central entrance and staircase that connects the first and second floors. The first floor renovation includes classroom spaces, a main administrative office, and group workspaces. On the upper floors, the conference center has been renovated into classroom space. Design additions also included a café, multipurpose space, dance studio, a reading room, and several specialty classrooms. The project achieved LEED Gold.
