New Facility in New York’s Financial District
VVA provided project and cost management services for the construction of a new 21,000 SF squash club on the 14th floor of an office building in New York’s Financial District.
The space, originally designated for building mechanical systems, became available after a landlord repositioning project redistributed equipment to tenant floors.
Key Features
- Eight professional, regulation-sized squash courts
- Gym, locker rooms, café, meeting room, and offices
- Extensive AV package supporting:
- Scorekeeping and teaching programs
- Advertising and court scheduling
- Tournament broadcasting
Project Challenges & Solutions
- Sound attenuation: Specialized structures were designed and installed to prevent noise transmission to tenant offices above and below the club.
- Ceiling height coordination: Maintaining required court ceiling heights necessitated close collaboration with MEP trades, specialty court builders, and lighting vendors.
VVA’s expertise in complex adaptive reuse, sound isolation, and high-performance sports facilities ensured the seamless execution of this unique project, delivering a premier squash facility in the heart of Manhattan.
