Behind the Build: Creating a Future-Forward, Sustainable, and Inclusive Workplace in Boston

At VVA, we know that a thoughtfully designed office is more than just a workplace—it’s a tool for connection, collaboration, and culture. That philosophy was at the heart of our recent project for a global consulting firm in Boston’s Financial District, where we managed the design and construction of a 96,000-square-foot office fit-out that brought together teams from two locations into one seamless workspace.
A Space Designed for Connection
With employees relocating from separate offices in Boston and Waltham, the goal was to create an environment that fostered unity and enhanced the in-office experience. The design featured a dynamic mix of spaces, including open workstations, private offices, and collaborative team rooms, along with a variety of huddle spaces and phone booths to support different working styles. A client center with dedicated training spaces ensured the firm could host workshops and meetings with ease.
To make the space more inviting and engaging, the office was designed around key amenities spanning three floors, all linked by a striking interconnecting staircase. Employees can grab a coffee at one of several barista bars, enjoy a drink at the brewery, or gather in the central cafeteria for a meal. Wellness was also a priority, with dedicated spaces including a mother’s suite, an IT bar, gender-neutral restrooms, showers and lockers, and private wellness spaces.

VVA’s Role: Managing Every Detail
As the Project Management team, VVA led every aspect of the build-out, ensuring the client’s vision came to life while staying on schedule and within budget. We directly managed the design team, general contractor, and all owner vendors—including IT, AV, security, furniture, artwork, signage, and planting. Our team also oversaw the seamless decommissioning of both former offices and managed the relocation process into the new space.
This project earned LEED v4 Platinum and two-star Fitwel certification, reflecting the firm’s commitment to sustainability and employee well-being.
