Headquarters and Museum Relocation
VVA provided account management and project management services for the simultaneous relocation and design of the American Kennel Club’s (AKC) 30,000 SF headquarters and 30,000 SF Museum of the Dog in New York City.
Museum of the Dog
The museum showcases AKC’s extensive collection of canine-related art and artifacts in a thoughtfully curated space. A key design feature includes rotating black steel art display walls, allowing exhibits to change dynamically.
AKC Headquarters
Located three floors above the museum, the headquarters features a workplace designed to enhance collaboration, culture, and employee well-being. The space includes:
- Reception area/gallery, showcasing AKC’s art collection
- Glass-enclosed library and boardroom, featuring custom triangular lighting fixtures
- Communal café and collaborative spaces
- Private and open workspaces, ensuring all employees have access to natural light and city views
Recognition
The AKC Headquarters project was honored with the IFMA NYC Award for Excellence for the Design & Construction of a New Facility (40,000–50,000 SF), underscoring the project’s success in creating an inspiring and functional workspace.
VVA has been the Project Manager for each of The American Kennel Club’s moves. Needless to say, we were so impressed the first time there wasn’t a doubt they would be our Project Manager for our second move which involved our office as well as the AKC Museum of the Dog. This required special skills and the ability to work with contractors to accomplish almost impossible design elements; VVA ensured everything the architects envisioned was made a reality.
